The advantages of fiber laser cutting machine comparing with CO2 laser cutting machine

The advantages of fiber laser cutting machine comparing with CO2 laser cutting machine(The difference of fiber laser cutting machine and CO2 laser cutting machine)

1. From the laser device structure to compare

In CO2 laser cutting technology, CO2 gas is a medium that generates a laser beam. However, fiber laser cutting machine are transmitted through diodes and fiber optic cables. The fiber laser system generates a laser beam by pumping multiple diodes and then transmits it to the laser cutting head through a flexible fiber optic cable instead of transmitting the beam through a mirror. This has many advantages, starting with the size of the cutting table. In the gas laser technology, the mirror must be set within a certain distance, and unlike the fiber laser technology, there is no range limitation. And even the fiber laser can be installed next to the plasma cutting head of the plasma cutting bed. CO2 laser cutting technology does not have this option. Also, the system is more compact due to the ability of the fiber to bend when compared to a gas cutting system of the same power.

2. Compare the conversion efficiency of electro-optical light

The most important and significant advantage of fiber-cutting technology should be its energy efficiency. With fiber laser complete solid-state digital modules and a single design, fiber laser cutting systems have electro-optical conversion efficient higher than CO2 laser cutting. For each power unit of a CO2 cutting system, the actual general utilization is about 8% to 10%. For fiber laser cutting systems, users can expect higher power efficiency, between 25% and 30%. In other words, the fiber-optic cutting system consumes about three to five times less energy than the CO2 cutting system, resulting in an increase in energy efficiency of greater than 86%.

3. Compare from the cutting effect

Fiber lasers have short-wavelength characteristics that increase the absorption of the beam by the cutting material and enable the cutting of materials such as brass and copper as well as non-conductive materials. A more concentrated beam produces a smaller focus and a deeper depth of focus, so that fiber lasers can quickly cut thinner materials and cut medium-thickness materials more efficiently. When cutting materials up to 6mm thick, the cutting speed of a 1.5kW fiber laser cutting system is equivalent to the cutting speed of a 3kW CO2 laser cutting system. Since the operating cost of fiber cutting is lower than the cost of a conventional CO2 cutting system, this can be understood as an increase in output and a decrease in commercial cost.

4. Compare from maintenance costs

Fiber laser cutting is more environmentally friendly and convenient on machine maintenance issues. CO2 gas laser systems require regular maintenance; mirrors require maintenance and calibration, and the resonators require regular maintenance. On the other hand, fiber laser cutting solutions require almost no maintenance. CO2 laser cutting systems require CO2 as a laser gas. Due to the purity of CO2 gas, the cavity is polluted and needs to be cleaned regularly. For a multi-kilowatt CO2 system, this item requires at least $20,000 per year. In addition, many CO2 cuts require high-speed axial turbines to deliver laser gas, while turbines require maintenance and refurbishment.
